MINI Lease End

What you need to know about your MINI lease.

As your current lease comes to an end, you start thinking about what the next steps are for you and your vehicle. The end of a lease term requires that you have your MINI vehicle inspected and returned to any MINI dealership, but depending on how you plan to end your lease there might be more to it. There are three basic options for ending your lease. You can buyout your lease, you can return your lease or you can return your lease for a new one. Below are the commonly asked questions regarding MINI lease returns.

Do I need to return my lease to MINI of San Francisco?

No. You can return your leased vehicle to any MINI dealer, however, only the originating dealership is required to accept the vehicle.

What if I would like to end my lease early?

If you are ending your lease early, you will need to contact MINI Financial Services to let them know of your intentions. They can be reached at 866-646-4463.

If you would like to end your lease before its scheduled end date, you can buyout your lease at any time, or you can trade in your vehicle whenever you want. Be aware that you are accountable for all remaining lease payments when turning in your vehicle prior to the end of your lease term.

Should I buyout my lease?

Choosing to buyout your lease may be an excellent choice depending on your situation. Usually, the end-of-lease buyout price will simply be the residual value within your lease contract. If you have any additional questions about buying out your lease, feel free to give us a call anytime at (415) 255-6464 to speak with a leasing specialist.

What’s the process for turning my lease in?

When you would like to turn in your lease, your vehicle needs to be inspected by an authorized agent. This can be done by scheduling your appointment, either by emailing us at leasereturn@MINISF.com or calling 415-255-6464.

When do I need to have my vehicle inspected?

It’s recommended that you have your car inspected within the last three months of your lease. This will ensure that you have plenty of time to schedule any possible repairs on the vehicle if there is required maintenance.

I went over my mileage limit. How do I purchase miles?

If you have gone over your contracted mileage, contact MINI Financial Services to purchase more miles at a discounted rate prior to the end of your lease. They can be reached at 866-646-4463.

How long will the inspection take?

The inspection of your car should take about 20 to 30 minutes.

What do I need to bring for my end-of-lease inspection?

You will need to bring both of the master keys, the owner’s manual, the cargo cover (if the vehicle came with one), and remove all personal items, such as garage door openers or parking passes. Be sure to remove the vehicle from your FasTrak account as MINI of San Francisco will not be liable for any charges that occur.

Do I need to be present during the end-0f-lease inspection?

While it’s not a requirement that you be there for the inspection of the vehicle, we do strongly recommend it. If you’re at the vehicle inspection, you can better understand the assessment results, as well as any charges that could apply. In addition to this, you will have to sign off on the vehicle report that the inspector produces; you will also be given a copy of the report at this time.
